One-Armed Bandits Take On the Game Shows
Brand new slot machines bring game show excitement to the casinos.

Photo copyright 2001 Charlyn ChisholmSlot machines and games shows have always had a lot in common - the possibility of winning life-changing amounts of cash, the thrill of every pull of the machine's arm or turn of the studio's camera, the dream of fame, fortune and excitement thrust into a comparatively dull, normal life.

Now casinos in Las Vegas and around the world are introducing new slot machines that pay homage to some of the classic game shows. No auditions are necessary for these games; just insert your nickels (or quarters or dollar bills) and play.

I recently toured the Las Vegas strip in search of this new breed of game show slot machines. Take a look at which shows are appearing on the casino floor, what they look like, and how they work.
