Jeopardy! :: Video Slot Machines
Brand new slot machines bring game show excitement to the casinos.

Photo copyright 2001 Charlyn Chisholm"Jeopardy!" slot machines have already been around for a few years, in the form of traditional, three-reel quarter or dollar slots with a bonus game above. Match three bonus symbols on the reels, and you move to the bonus game. The board lights up values from 10 to 100. One by one the lights go off. Whichever value remains at the end is the number of credits you win. The games beckon you from across the casino with their lights and the familiar call of "This is Jeopardy!" Many are attached to progressive jackpots which can add up to hundreds of thousands, even millions of dollars.

Recently released, a new take on the old game adds Alex Trebek and more features of the television game show. The new video slot machines have a total of five reels. A video intro shows the entrance to the studios in Hollywood where Jeopardy! is taped.

(After all, no matter how many fancy features are added, slot machines are first and foremost games of chance!) Alex Trebek welcomes you to the game. He announces the categories, and the board lights up just as on television.

All of the blue boxes of the board hide values. Touch them randomly to add to your bonus total. Uncovering the "Final Jeopardy" value ends the round.

Next is Final Jeopardy, and a chance to increase your winnings. Three animated contestants appear for you to choose. Each hides a multiplier which will increase the credits earned in the first round of he bonus game.

"Jeopardy!" is a nickel video slot machine with nine paylines. You can bet up to five nickels per line, for a total bet of 45 nickels ($2.25) per spin.

I found these machines throughout the strip, including at Harrah's, The Luxor, and on Freemont Street.
